Domaine G. Metz
Three Generations on the Slopes of Itterswiller
Domaine G. Metz has been farming the slopes of Itterswiller in Alsace for three generations — a family story written in Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat.
The domaine's vineyards sit on a complex mosaic of soils — granite, sandstone, limestone and clay — that gives each variety a different character and the range as a whole an extraordinary breadth. From the steely precision of the Riesling to the richly aromatic Gewurztraminer, every wine is unmistakably Alsatian.
Winemaking is traditional and unhurried: long, cool fermentations in stainless steel and old foudres, minimal sulphur, and bottling by variety and terroir rather than by blend. The wines are dry, precise and built to age.
